Hey everybody, Ryan here, with some fresh collections for your amazement. This week we have a mix of the enlightening and the delightfully ridiculous for you to peruse and add to your collections or inspire an entirely new creation!

lucyboy has compiled a collection of massive products of both Mother Nature and mankind alike to give you A Sense of Scale. This collection should be a humbling experience for anyone looking for some perspective on his or her relative size in the world.
rogie has a good eye for Illustration as he should, considering this collection is filled with a lot of his own awesome work. This collection is definitely worth a look for all of the creative and unusual illustrations within.
This collection from michaelcroxton is a gathering of photos for when things in Nature become art themselves. You won’t want to miss these living paintings.

Explore oldeenglish’s Things of Interest collection, and you’ll catch glimpses of humor, amazement, and intrigue within. It even has my favorite painting.
christowski’s Objects is a celebration of the physical. Look through this collection to find all manner of objects from furniture to sculpture. One thing is certain, nothing in this collection qualifies as average.
Characters is a collection from christoffelk filled with photos of famous people on and off set. You will surely find some familiar faces to add to your own collection, I mean, how could you pass this up?
With the 2012 Olympics fresh on our minds, why not check out janelindberg’s The Big Picture, 2012 to see some of the best Olympic moments caught on film as well as inspiring photos from all over the world.
dead_arm has created a virtual cookbook with the collection Recipies + Food. I can’t remember if I was hungry before looking at this collection, but I am now.

It’s time for the next installment of This Week in Gimme Bar, brought to you once again by Ryan. This week is filled with inspirational collections to turn your brain gears. Let us begin:

Starting this week is an awesome collection of some of the craziest, coolest architecture and interior decoration I’ve ever seen. lideborg has been hard at work building his Architecture/Interior. collection and it shows. I’ve always wanted to live in a Dr. Seuss house…
Prepare yourself for the collaboration between zinzi and lil_windmill. Shoe Porn is exactly as the name suggests. These are no ordinary shoes as you will surely see.
Third this week is hollyoxen’s color, a collection devoted to our visible spectrum.The focus isn’t any specific type or use of color, just that delicious eye-candy brought to us by light itself.
Being an amateur illustrator myself, I am biased towards this collection of Illustrations from jonnygotham. Although the artists differ these works all have one thing in common; they are scientifically proven to be awesome.[citation needed]
Finally, photography and typography combine in andrewjaustin’s Photypography collection. These photographs are enough to marvel at on their own, but some scholarly folks have introduced beautiful typography to the mix to create masterpieces like the one you see here:

Ryan here, and this week we’re going from micro to macro, from typekits to spaceships. Time to blast off with This Week in Gimme Bar.

We’ll start small with a collaborative collection, Typekit Sites we like. This collaboration is among aworkinglibrary, jsm, mason, benjaminwelch, timbrown, donlbe, and drinkerthinker. After that list, check out these cool examples of typekits.
People who read are cool, people who go to libraries are even cooler. mymarkup’s Modern Libraries collection celebrates these bastions of knowledge with some of the coolest libraries we’ve ever seen. If more libraries looked like this I’d never leave:
If you’re like me and have never been to Dublin then this collection is the perfect thing to get you acquainted. philipkennedy has catapulted us back in time with photographs of Dublin’s past. Take a walk through the streets of Dublin with these examples:

Welcome! I’m Ryan and I’m back again with This Week in Gimme Bar for May 8th, 2012. This week is a grouping of awesome collections including the fragile, the extreme, and everything in between.

First off is a collaboration by danmartens and andmangold titledBags. Viewer be warned, this collection of luggage paraphernalia may result in purchase.
Rolling in next is crossthebreeze’s Ridin’ bikes. This collection of videos and bike pictures is enough to make anyone rethink his or her position on pedaling. Take your bike to the extreme, or at least watch a video of the pros doing it with this cool collection.

Number three is a nice collection of the ordinary being pushed into the extraordinary. I’m speaking, of course, of yannell’s ceramic collection of Plates, cups and things. These awesome eating and drinking utensils abandon the idea that they can’t be art.

This is another collection that laughs in the face of the ordinary. davidreno’s stairs collection makes us wish this is how we could get from floor to floor. Check these out:

Hi guys! It’s Ryan Simpson, Gimme Bar’s new intern. It’s been a while since we’ve put one up, but This Week in Gimme Bar is back to show you all what your fellow Gimme Bar users are up to and hopefully give you a few new ideas for your own collections. So, here we go:

Starting us off is danielgray’s color coded collection Yellow. Not only has he collected a bunch of awesome images they are all, you guessed it, yellow. This opens up a world of new possibilities for collections. The only thing more impressive than the individual selections of this album is viewing the collection as a whole. This collection will only get more impressive with time as Daniel reveals the power of the primary color.

It’s 2012, yo. As you’ve no doubt already figured out, gyms are for suckers. Time start burning off the pounds with bright, shiny new Gimme Bar collections. Welcome to This Week in Gimme Bar.

First up is jasonwu’s My Style collection. Full of some of the coolest watches, boots, motorcycles, bags, offices and much more. Jason’s style is very much in line with Team GB style. We can’t wait to see what he adds to this collection next.
Posters is a collaborative collection by daviferreira & co. We love seeing folks team up to create great collections. Also highlights an interface bug in our app: we need to show all collaborators. Hooray! Chock full of simple and beautiful movie posters. Check out these two:

Our Top 9 Gimme Bar Fixes

After the rousing week that was The Five Days of Gimme Bar, we’ve decided to dedicate a solid chunk of time to a major rewrite of our app. We’re going to get rid of lots of excess code and tidy up a bunch of technical debt. We expect to come out the other side all kinds of leaner and meaner.

Since it’ll be a couple weeks before we start pushing out new features and improvements again, we thought it would be fun to share our list of the top 10 fixes we’re itching to clean up. These aren’t really features. We’ve got a separate and slightly more secret list of those. These are just fixes that would make the process of using Gimme Bar a bit more sweet.

Speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed! - We want to make Gimme Bar a whole lot faster. The bar needs to snap open and closed instantly. The discovery stream needs to have a speedy and seamless endless scroll feel. The rewrite we’re in the middle of will go a long way toward accomplishing this.
Hidden Backups - We think backups are a huge part of the future of Gimme Bar, but that doesn’t mean you want to see all your tweets on the Library page. You should have the option to hide backups from the Library view.
Edit things in Discovery - As you flow through the discovery stream finding all kinds of yummy, you should be able to put those things into collections or change their titles / privacy.
Discovery Duplicates - We want to do a better job of hiding duplicates in your Discovery stream so you see almost all brand new content.
Back buttons - Right now if you click into something while you’re deep in the Discovery stream, you lose your place and can’t jump back to where you were. That is classic lame. We need back buttons that keep your place.
URLs - Our URLs could use some improvement. As you scroll through the Discovery stream, the URL should update to convey your depth in the stream. If you filter by a content type in your library, the URL should update to convey that.
Social Feedback - We can do a better job of letting you know about the other folks who are following you or favoriting your collections. We can also tell you more about what things you save that other people are finding and saving for themselves. There’s all kinds of fun stuff to flesh out here.
First! - If you’re the first person to add a given bit of content to the site, you should get some extra props in the interface.
Clearer Multi-select - Most people don’t realize this, but if you go to your Library, you can drag-select multiple things and batch edit or delete them. It’s pretty handy at times and it’s been there from the start, but no one knows about it because it isn’t clear anywhere that you can do that. We need to make it clear.

That’s about it. We’ll be balancing fixing these with releasing new features designed to both wow and delight you.

Welcome to a very special edition (they’re all special) of This Week in Gimme Bar. We put together this week’s round up in a cabin that we rented on Airbnb. Everyone on the team is here except Ed who we miss tremendously.

Hollyoxen has so many fantastic collections that it was hard to choose just one. We’re in a map mood so we went with systems: maps - plots - charts.
As newly minted mountain men, we’ve been surviving on dinners composed primarily of pine cones so this delectable collection of Sandwiches by klaredelune is almost torture. Must. Have. Chocolate-Mint Chip Ice Cream Sandwich.
Ian & Whale are two buddies of ours who appear to be in the mood to redecorate. Check out Ian’s Home Inspiration and Whale’s collaborative Zaarly Office collection. Apparently the new Zaarly office and Ian’s new apartment are both going to be incredible. We hope they invite us over.
Abbey Road is, of course, an incredible album with an iconic album cover. For our money, the b-side to the record is perfect from start to finish. So a big thanks to rikmoran for finding this Abbey Sidewalk photo of the Beatles right before that iconic walk across whatever that road is they’re walking on.
Lastly, since we’re working away in a cabin, something topical. Cameron found this cabin on Jace’s Cabin Porn tumblr. It’s a near replica of the cabin we’re currently staying in. Originally shot by James Bowden in Tansania.

We’ve got our first edition of This Week in Gimme Bar hot off the imaginary presses. Just a quick round up our favorite things that we found on GB this week—and it was a good week.

Jenseninman’s beautiful collection of Book Covers. It’s already got 770 items (what?!) and includes at least three Great Gatsby covers.
Raul’s growing collection of Films I Recommend. Raul is the keeper of all movie knowledge so we’re excited to see where this goes.
Garbnzgh’s impressive collection of Homepages: Products & Services. He’s done the legwork of taking screenshots of over 100 home pages around the web. Pretty inspiring stuff.
Mulberry Street, New York in 1900. We found this gem via Ben. It’s a pretty mesmerizing photo with tons of fun details to look at. Also, see if you can find Waldo.
Workspace by Trent Walton. This is a little older than a week, but we wanted to share it anyhow because it’s a fun article and it’s beautifully designed. Also, almost any inclusion of Clint Eastwood will get you onto this list. :)
